"People get hurt in all that bumping, and we're sick and tired of it now. It's been going on for too long. Are we never going to get it right?" (46)
Sam uses an extended metaphor to compare life to ballroom dancing. We "bump" into each other by hurting each other, ignoring the feelings of others. In today's world, we have constant issues with racism and hatred. This makes me think of more than just racism between black and white; it also reminds me of the prejudiced ideas and actions we have between Americans and people in the Middle East. We have constant conflicts and fighting because we can't figure out how to get the steps right..
